| Today,
Oct. 22, our Pension Fund (The American Federation of Musicians and
Employers' Pension Fund or AFM-EP) released an initial
letter outlining the benefit modifications recently adopted by
the Fund's Trustees. That letter is available here. |
This
is important reading!
|
Some
of the changes are rather complex and more information will be
forthcoming.
|
In
fact, the Pension Fund plans to issue a more detailed notice, including
examples, before the changes go into effect on January 1, 2004.
|
This
additional notice, which the Pension Fund will send to each and
every participant, should answer most of your questions. The Fund
is asking participants to hold their questions for the moment so
that its staff can focus on preparing that notice while they also
give full consideration on how best to implement the required changes.
|
However...
|
The
RMA General Conference is being held in NY Nov. 15 and 16 and we
will be meeting with Pension Fund Co-Counsel (AFM) during that
time.
|
Though
we cannot resolve issues for individuals, if you have questions
about the forthcoming benefit changes which you feel are not addressed
or are unclear, we will pass those questions along. They will aid
in the preparation of the more complete notice mentioned above.
|
We
will keep you posted!
